  • Melt Dunes 'Flesh EP'
    Cassette + Digital Album

Portsmouth psychedelic warlords Melt Dunes have been rapidly gaining a reputation as one of the fiercest live bands the U.K has to offer, warping the minds and bodies of anyone who comes into orbit and with only two singles released to date on both Strong Island Recordings and Fuzz Club, Melt Dunes’ are set to unleash their debut EP the ‘Flesh EP’ 16 March.

Emerging with the delirium of ‘What’s Your Name?’; a rich and densely guitar-driven track, somewhat reminiscent of Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd to ‘Flesh’, a bludgeoning, motorik throb that throws a nod the kraut stylings of Can and Neu!. Flesh’s cacophonous thrash of an ending leaves little time to prepare for the eerily malevolent ‘Epicaricacy’; a fitting soundtrack to a paranoid stumble through an abandoned carnival. Following this with the jagged simplicity of the bleak and hypnotic ‘Grotesque’, the quintet bring you an EP that combines elements of the gloom-psych shimmer of The Black Angels with the raucous aggression of The Stooges to sculpt a sound that is thoroughly unnerving . With their debut EP, Melt Dunes are certainly going to drag us all into the darkest depths of their psychedelic, fuzz-fueled realm.

Each cassette comes with a digital download.

Press:
“Our decision to opt for Melt Dunes' psychedelic overload proves a fruitful one. Their half-hour set evokes thoughts of how Pink Floyd's interplanetary excursions in the UFO Club might have sounded back in the day. Or a less opiate fuelled Hawkwind. “ (Drowned in Sound)
“Testament to the amazing chemistry and musicality of this band, Melt Dunes’ second single lives up to their growing reputation as a live band”. (So Young Magazine)
"This band could very well be UK psych’s saving grace and are unquestionably going to turn the heads of fuzz-fiends across the globe." (Gig Wise)
"If you have any real proof that they're not the one of the best live bands in the country, I challenge you to see 'em live and disagree.”(Vapour Trail Blog)
"Melt Dunes’ raucous racket is a violent sensory attack. Brutal aural experimentation has spawned what is the bastardised sound of whirring psychedelia and gutsy garage noise” (Caught in the Crossfire)

"An epic that bursts with the krautrock explosiveness of CAN and the psychedelic delirium of The Black Angels and The Black Lips.” (The Revue)
“Track of the Week” (Original Penguin)
“I feel like they entered the planet via a wormhole.” (Echoes & Dust)
